It's Day 7 of The 30 Day Home Refresh! Today we're refreshing your shower so that you can have a mini spa-like experience at home.
Increase your shower's water pressure by cleaning the showerhead to remove mineral deposits. Unscrew the showerhead and soak in a bowl of boiling water and ½ cup of vinegar for 10 minutes. If you can’t remove the head, fill a plastic bag with full-strength vinegar and secure it over the showerhead, let it sit for an hour.
Add some greenery to your shower, specifically a bundle of eucalyptus. Tie a bundle together with twine and place in your shower. Don't place it directly in the stream of water or where it is going to get very wet, rather place it in the steam. The steam in the hot shower will activate the eucalyptus oils which help with congestion, headaches, inflammation, and stress.
Add essential oils to your shower for a variety of benefits (depending on your choice of oil). Add 10-20 drops to a cloth and place in the steam of the shower (not in the direct stream of water). If you take showers in the morning, opt for oils that will energize you such as spearmint, rosemary, orange, lemon, lime, or grapefruit. If you shower in the evening, opt for oils that will calm and relax you such as lavender, geranium, ylang-ylang, jasmine, or patchouli.
Decant your shampoos, conditions, body washes, etc. into matching, labeled containers to create a streamlined look.
