Homeowners love open floor plans but the lack of walls delineating space usually makes furniture layout and decorating a bit more challenging – lucky for you, we love a good challenge. Second to the paint color on the walls, an area rug is going to take up the most visual real estate in a room. That’s a lot of pressure to get it right – we have created a list of our favorite tips and tricks to help you create visually interesting area rug combinations. The key to mixing area rugs is balance, a balance between textures, color, pattern and scale.

Here are the trends that we see becoming popular in 2020. Our list comes from a mix of research and observation. We took inventory of what we see on top social media posts, design magazine and popular blogs. A lot of the home magazines and design websites interview interior designers from around the country and ask them what they think the trends will be – we took notice when multiple designers had the same predictions. We also combed through several trend reports from various marketing, design and creative outlets.

This fall we created a bathroom design in collaboration with the Splash Spritzo showroom in Providence. We were invited to take over their Instagram for a day and walk their followers through the process of selected fixtures for a bathroom at the showroom. We decided to create a traditional bathroom with a modern twist - using traditional lines and shapes with modern materials and colors.
